MERCURY. In Roman mythology, god of commerce and messenger of the gods; identified with the Greek, HERMES. He is sometimes seen carrying his CADUSEUS, a staff entwined with serpents. Mercury found two serpents in combat. He tried to place his wand between them. The serpents stopped fighting and coiled themselves around the staff. Thus, the origin of the Caduseus.

Talented daughter in a famous English stage family who first appeared at age seven in a play at the Boston Athenaeum. Her real debut was made five years later in "Faint Heart Never Won Fair Lady", and from then on she played various comedy parts, later forming her own company in which she visited the principal cities of The United States.
